Discord Invite Filter
Control who can share Discord invites and app-authorization links.
Daxeon’s Invite Filter blocks messages that contain Discord invite links unless the invite has been explicitly approved. This stops users from self-promoting, redirecting members to scam servers, or spamming partner invites without permission.
The same filter also blocks app-authorization links. Both are ways a message can pull your members somewhere you did not approve, so a single toggle covers them.
To see both used in a live campaign, read the Discord support ticket scam walkthrough on the Daxeon blog.
App-Authorization Links
An app-authorization link is a discord.com/oauth2/authorize link. Opening one prompts a member to add a bot to a server they manage.
Scammers post these links because a member who accepts hands the attacker a bot with real permissions, often the ability to read messages, create invites, or manage roles. The link looks like an ordinary Discord URL, so it slips past people who have learned to be careful about invites.
When the invite filter is on, Daxeon deletes messages containing app-authorization links for any app that is not on your allowlist.
How to Manage Allowed Invites and Apps
Add or remove an entry
Use the same pair of commands for both invites and app-authorization links. Daxeon detects which one you pasted.
/chat_filters invite add invite: <invite or app-authorization link>
/chat_filters invite remove invite: <invite or app-authorization link>Examples:
For invites you can paste the full URL or just the code (JWy9bSqpYJ). For apps, paste the full authorization URL including the client_id parameter.
View all allowed invites and apps
To see what is currently allowed:
Invites and apps appear together in one paginated list, each shown as Invite or App alongside its ID.
Best Practices
Only allow invites to servers you own, have officially partnered with or know is safe.
Hold apps to an even higher bar. Allowlist an app only if you would be comfortable with your own staff installing it, and check what permissions its authorization link requests first.
Routinely review your allowed invites and apps using
/chat_filters invite view.Use Bypass Settings to exempt a channel where invite links are allowed, such as a partners or promotions channel.
Monitor flagged or blocked invite attempts through your Daxeon logs to stay ahead of misuse.
Permissions
Daxeon needs View Channel and Read Message History in the channels you want filtered, Manage Messages to delete what it catches, and Send Messages with Embed Links in your log channel.
